"The Unicode Consortium first published The Unicode Standard in 1991 (version 1.0), and has published new versions on a regular basis since then. The latest version of the Unicode Standard, version 12.1, was released in May 2019, and is available in electronic format from the consortium's website. The last version of the standard that was published completely in book form (including the code charts) was version 5.0 in 2006, but since version 5.2 (2009) the core specification of the standard has been published as a print-on-demand paperback.[1] The entire text of each version of the standard, including the core specification, standard annexes and code charts, is freely available in PDF format on the Unicode website.
