For technical divers there are a few wrecks that have attracted widespread popularity. For years SS Andrea Doria was regarded as the pinnacle of challenges to the wreck diver, but, since the popularisation of trimix as a breathing gas, technical divers now dive deeper and more challenging wrecks, and Andrea Doria is now considered by some to be a good training wreck for trimix divers.[11] Trimix is also used to visit USS Monitor and MS Mikhail Lermontov in Marlborough Sounds, New Zealand, and at Recife[12] and the Corveta Ipiranga at Fernando de Noronha in Brazil.[13]
