In page Night People (radio show):
"On May 21, 2008, Perlis called into an episode of WFMU's Seven Second Delay, hosted by station manager Ken Freedman and comedian Andy Breckman where he successfully pitched an idea for an Art Bell/Coast to Coast AM style overnight radio show.[1] Freedman liked the idea and gave him an opportunity to fill in for Seven Second Delay.[2] Perlis called friend and co-worker at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, Andy Theodorou and asked him to co-host. The name Night People is Perlis' tribute to radio personality Jean Shepherd's listeners, who went by that name.[3] After three more fill-ins, Freedman added Night People to the regular schedule on August 29.
