"Welch's contrasting attitudes towards Kirwan – on one hand, a difficult personal relationship, and on the other his respect for Kirwan's musicianship – were a point of focus during the sixteen months they were together in Fleetwood Mac. Fleetwood remembered, "The two of them were very different as people and as musicians."[1] A "personality clash" developed[2] and by 1972, under the strain of touring, Kirwan was arguing with Welch and "picking fights".[1]
